Report: Ayo Dosunmu unlikely to return to Chicago Bulls next season

Ayo Dosunmu is reportedly unlikely to return to the Chicago Bulls next season.

The Chicago Bulls entered this offseason with one goal: Improve the team. Rather than tearing down the roster, they pushed forward. Arturas Karnisovas made it clear he didn’t want to enter a rebuild. In turn, all the moves they’ve made so far this summer have been in an attempt to make the roster better around the team’s stars.

They re-signed Nikola Vucevic and Coby White and brought in Jevon Carter and Torrey Craig in free agency. However, there is still one outstanding domino left to fall: Ayo Dosunmu‘s free agency.

“This is from sources close to him,” Jason said. “I don’t think he believes he will be back either. We were hearing Toronto is interested and is a likely option.”

In 80 appearances for the Bulls last year, Dosunmu averaged 26.2 minutes per contest. He averaged 8.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game while shooting 49.3% from the field and 31.2% from beyond the 3-point arc.

The Toronto Raptors were connected to Dosunmu earlier this summer, and it makes sense, given they don’t have much point guard depth. They lost Fred VanVleet in free agency, and the only point guards on their roster are Dennis Schroder, who they signed, and Malachi Flynn.
