Four-star OL Preston Taumua sets commitment date

The state of Hawaii’s No. 1 player for 2024 placed Auburn in his top five last month.

The Auburn Tigers will have a chance to secure an offensive lineman for the 2024 class within the next week.

[autotag]Preston Taumua[/autotag], a four-star offensive lineman from Aiea, Hawaii, has announced that he will share his college decision with the public on Sunday, July 16. He will be choosing between Auburn, Arizona, Alabama, Oregon, and Nebraska.

Last month. Taumua placed Auburn in his top five after taking an official visit to the Plains on June 16. Following his top five announcement, he spoke with Blair Angulo of 247Sports about his interest in Auburn.

“I love Auburn because of coach Ben Aigamaua, coach Kendall Simmons and coach Jake Thornton,” Taumua said. “They show so much love to me especially when they come down to the islands. Me and Coach Ben always check up on one another and they talk to me like I’m a part of the team already and that’s something special.”

As his commitment date draws closer, Auburn Undercover’s Christian Clemente believes that the race is between Auburn and Nebraska. Taumua has built a relationship with Auburn tight ends coach Ben Aigamaua, who has worked as his lead recruiter. However, Nebraska is seen as the top school now based on his relationship with Cornhuskers’ offensive line coach Dominic Raiola.

Taumua is the No. 1 player from the state of Hawaii, and the No. 11 interior lineman for the 2024 class.
