Which Florida Gators are playing summer baseball?

The college baseball season is over, but several Gators are still playing across various summer leagues.

Almost immediately after falling in the final game of the 2023 College World Series, Florida right-handed pitcher Brandon Neely and two-way star Jac Caglianone met up with the rest of the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team to compete in international play over the summer.

Following a five-game sweep of Chinese Taipei, Caglianone is batting just 2 for 17 with a home run and three runs batted in. Neely has stood out, though, striking out six over three shutout innings in two appearances.

Caglianone and Neely aren’t the only two Gators playing ball over the summer, though. Florida has eight more players scattered across three leagues.

The Cape Cod League is the most popular of the three. Philip Abner and Luke Heyman are with the Falmouth Commodores, outfielder Ty Evans is with the New Orleans Firebirds, Blake Purnell is with the Harwich Mariners and Fisher Jameson and Michael Robertson are with the Brewster Whitecaps.

Redshirt freshman Jake Clemente is in the Coastal Plains League playing with the Peninsual Pilots. He didn’t throw all year for Florida due to an injury, but the coaching staff seems to believe in him as a potential starter in the future.

Dale Thomas is in Orlando playing for the Snappers of the Florida League to round out the list of Gators playing summer ball.
