The Oklahoma Sooners have landed another commitment. Four-star wide receiver Ivan Carreon from Odessa, Tx, is a massive target for the Sooners.
He stands 6-foot-6 and weighs 195 pounds. He’s the exact kind of weapon that could help take this wide receiver room to the next level.
It’s unclear if the Sooners will use him as a wide receiver or put some weight on him and transition him to the tight end spot. One thing is clear, they wanted him bad.
This comes just one day after Carreon decided to decommit from the Texas Tech Red Raiders. He first committed to Texas Tech when current Oklahoma Wide Receiver Coach Emmett Jones was on the Red Raiders staff.
If you look at Jones’ history both at Texas Tech and also when he was a coach for the Kansas Jayhawks, this is the type of receiver he likes.
If you look at the current layout of that room, there are not many people with his size. Carreon joins Zion Kearney, K.J. Daniels, and Dozie Ezukanma in a deep wide receiver class for the Sooners and they may not be done yet.
Parker Thune with OUInsider has reported this should not affect Zion Ragins or Terry Bussey. Both guys the Sooners are going after hard as well.
