The New England Patriots signed linebacker Ja’Whaun Bentley to a two-year $18.75 million deal on Thursday. The deal itself includes $9 million fully guaranteed, per NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport.

Bentley has become a staple of New England’s linebacker group and a model of consistency. He was drafted in 2018 and quickly made himself an integral part of New England’s linebacker group. He recorded 125 tackles last season, marking the second year in a row with at least 100 stops. He also played in all 17 games.

New England has been busy working on new contracts over the last couple days. Wide receiver DeVante Parker was signed on Wednesday to a new deal as well, which helped the team create more cap space.

This is good news for the Patriots, who have now locked up a major defensive piece for the foreseeable future.
