The honeymoon period is coming to an end for Luke Fickell at Wisconsin. The first half-year seemed to be perfect, with excitement through the roof and positive recruiting headlines dropping every week.
But here’s the beautiful thing about college football: once the fall comes and Iowa is on the opposing sideline, none of the offseason success really matters.
Sure, nearly every portal addition by Fickell and Offensive Coordinator Phil Longo will help the team win games this season. But once the game kicks off people forget how and when players arrived. All that ends up mattering is the scoreboard at the end of the game, and rightfully so.
247Sports’ Evan Flood joined the Cover 3 Podcast’s Bud Elliott earlier this week to discuss Wisconsin’s outlook entering the season. As Flood describes, expectations are sky-high…but now it’s time to win some games.
