J.J. Watt has had some legendary moments at Camp Randall, but he tried to top them all as the commencement speaker in 2019.
As if having Watt as your commencement speaker wasn’t great enough, the Wisconsin Hall of Famer tried to buy every single graduate a beer that he wanted to hide under their chairs during graduation.
He recently told the full story on the podcast “Green Light with Chris Long.”
Not only was he trying to buy students a beer, but he was trying to buy them Wisconsin’s very own Spotted Cow.
“I was talking to the university and I was like, ‘This is what I want to do,'” said Watt on Green Light with Chris Long. “Spotted Cow is the best beer in Wisconsin. It’s incredible. I wanted to put a Spotted Cow under every single seat in the stadium.
I’ll pay for it all. I’ll pay for the labor to put it under the seats, but at the end of my commencement speech, I’m gonna say, ‘Now, to congratulate you, reach under your seat and have a cold one on me.’”
It could have been the greatest Wisconsin commencement moment of all time, but unfortunately, and perhaps fairly, the university had other plans.
I’m still convinced this would have been one of the greatest commencement speaker moves of all time if they’d have let me do it 🤣
(On second thought, maybe it would be 2nd place to that guy who paid off all the student debt.)
(Yeah, definitely probably 2nd place.) https://t.co/KfjP4w0ntT
