The past weekend was quiet for USC football recruiting. That period of calm did not last very long.
The Trojans and Lincoln Riley are making noise on the trail once again. Monday, they landed receiver Ryan Pellum. Tuesday afternoon, four-star 2024 safety Marquis Gallegos, an in-state prospect, stayed home in California and gave USC its 14th commitment in the 2024 class.
The Trojans, who had moved up to No. 8 in the United States with the Pellum commitment on Monday, will now move up to No. 7 with this specific commitment from Gallegos, with more to come.
Lincoln Riley has tweeted out the “Fight On!” emoji twice on Monday, which points to yet another commitment following this one from Gallegos. “Emoji math” is something Trojan fans are eagerly following as we speak.
USC is knocking on the door of the top five for the 2024 recruiting cycle. Keep in mind that whereas Michigan, Penn State, and Notre Dame have 20 or more commitments, USC hasn’t yet reached 15. The Trojans have pulled in nine four-star prospects in June. If the four-stars continue to roll in, USC’s recruiting ranking will rise.
