To people who follow and know the Arkansas basketball team, Trevon Brazile’s projection as a second-round pick by ESPN last week didn’t make much sense.
Now, USA TODAY has released their projected Top 30 in next year’s NBA Draft and Brazile’s fit there seems far more likely.
Arkansas’ dynamic forward is projected as the No. 28 pick by Jeff Zillgett at USA TODAY. That’s in-line with where he was projected to go last year before losing his season in December because of a knee injury.
If Brazile is healthy, and all signs point to that being the case, he is a game-changing talent in Arkansas’ frontcourt. In his first season with the Razorbacks, Brazile played 27 minutes a game in nine games, where he averaged 11.8 points and 6.0 rebounds while shooting 38% from 3-point range. His length and athleticsm at 6-foot-8 also produced a number of a highlight-reel plays, despite the only nine games.
For now, Brazile is the only projected NBA pick. Arkansas had three last week when Anthony Black, Nick Smith Jr. and Jordan Walsh were all selected. Wing Ricky Council also signed a two-way contract.
Arkansas’ schedule has not yet been released, but the Razorbacks are expected to open their regular season in early November.
