It’s not a done deal until the player signs on the dotted line.
Arizona State guard Devan Cambridge announced he was going to transfer to Oregon back in April, but now he has changed course and will be attending Texas Tech instead.
The former Sun Devil and 6-foot-6 guard had averaged nearly 10 points and 5.4 rebounds last season and was looking to do the same in Eugene as well as be a senior leader for a younger roster.
But Cambridge announced via Instagram that he would be going east, not west, to Lubbock, Texas and play for the Red Raiders.
Oregon coach Dana Altman now has an unexpected scholarship to hand out and it’ll be interesting to see what he does with that one extra roster spot, if anything.
The Ducks will be on the younger side with a highly-touted recruiting class coming in, so it would be beneficial to find another senior transfer for that leadership quality that is severely underrated at times.
