The brunt of the offseason is in the books and training camp is still off on the horizon. Join us in the NFL’s dead zone with a player-by-player review of the Jaguars roster ahead of the 2023 season.
The Jacksonville Jaguars raised eyebrows when they gave Christian Kirk a $72 million contract in free agency last year. Even Kirk admitted that he was floored by the size of the deal.
A year later, few are criticizing the Jaguars for the move.
Kirk led Jacksonville in receiving in his first year with the team, notching his first 1,000-yard season and hauling in eight touchdown grabs.
While the addition of Calvin Ridley may mean Kirk is no longer the top receiving option, it could also mean more open space for the former Arizona Cardinals receiver.
Contract (2023): $1.08 million base salary, $5 million prorated signing bonus, $500,000 roster bonus, $500,000 workout bonus, $2.884 million restructure bonus, $3 million in incentives, $11.464 million cap hit.
Acquired: Jaguars signed Kirk to a four-year deal in free agency on March 16, 2022.

Quote: “I show up to work and try to be the best that I can for this football team. Whatever we can do to help win football games, if at the end of the year we’re holding up a Super Bowl trophy, I could care less if I’m receiver No. 1, 2, or 7. As long as I’m there and I’ve had a part in getting that.” – Kirk
