The recruitment for five-star power forward Jarin Stevenson is officially over.
On Wednesday, Stevenson ended his recruitment and made the announcement that he will attend the University of Alabama to play for Nate Oats. Stevenson is opting to reclassify to 2023 and join the Crimson Tide, picking them over fellow finalists UNC and Virginia.
The Pittsboro, North Carolina native was the top target left for UNC in the 2024 cycle, one in which they have the No. 1 class. It’s a disappointing result for North Carolina who was Stevenson’s first offer and is just down the road from the program.
But the decision to reclassify helped the Crimson Tide who offered Stevenson earlier in 2023.
I want to thank everyone who supported me and showed me love. With lots of prayer, I have decided to reclass to 2023 and play for the University of Alabama. đ #RollTide pic.twitter.com/mtzwu0sEs5

North Carolina does have three players committed for 2024 led by Ian Jackson who is a five-star recruit. He’s joined by fellow five-star Drake Powell and four-star recruit James Brown. The question now for Hubert Davis is if they target more prospects in 2024.
