Marcus Smart’s 2022-23 season with the Boston Celtics revealed a polarizing player who was misused by the team for much of the campaign but was still key despite being relegated from point guard to defensive specialist.
The Flower Mound native often struggled with his shooting from beyond the arc but also excelled in distributing the ball to his teammates when given the chance. The Celtics’ heavy focus on 3-point shooting this year hindered Smart’s offensive performance given his history as a streaky long-distance shooter. Oddly, his defense also slipped, although he remained a better defender than many players on the team.
Should the Celtics keep Smart or move on from him in light of all of the above?
The host of the “Locked On Celtics,” John Karalis, weighed in on this significant concern with guest Tom Westerholm in a recent episode; take a look at the clip embedded above to hear their thoughts on Smart’s future in Boston.
