Since April, Texas A&M and 2024 four-star linebacker Tyanthony Smith have been in constant contact, as the rising defensive prospect has already received over 26 offers, including nearly every blue-blood program in the country.
It was announced in early May that Smith would take several official visits throughout the summer, starting with consecutive trips to Norman, Oklahoma, and College Station, Texas, on the weekend of June 2. Just two weeks after both visits, Smith has finalized his Top 5 program list: Alabama, USC, Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas A&M.
According to 247Sports Composite Rankings, Smith is currently positioned as the 29th-ranked linebacker prospect and the 57th-ranked player in Texas, recently receiving his four-star designation.
Simply calling Smith a “rising defensive prospect” (I just did) is an understatement once you watch his tape and analyze his stats, starting with his incredibly productive 2022 junior season at Jasper High School in Jasper, Texas, where he went on to record 99 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, and three sacks on the year, possessing the speed, range, and tackling ability to thrive at the collegiate level while continuing to add weight to an already sturdy frame (6-1, 205 pounds).

With three total campus visits since the start of the year, the Aggies look to be clear favorites to land Tyanthony Smith, and if you want more evidence to back up this claim, check out what fellow 2024 and Aggie favorite wide receivers Drelon Smith and Terry Bussey had to say on the matter.
