Before kicking off mandatory minicamp this week, the Carolina Panthers enjoyed themselves a fun session in front of the cameras on Monday. And among those who really enjoyed showing off for some shots was outside linebacker Brian Burns and his brand new number.
This year’s production day gave us the first look at Burns in his No. 0 uniform, a switch that was made official just last Wednesday.
Drumroll, please . . .

“I love it. I love it. It’s a new beginning,” Burns, who’s sporting what would be a fresh black helmet and blue jersey combo, says in the clip. “Just a lot of things changing around the building, lot of things changing to the team and in the organization itself. So, I was like, ‘Why not?’
“And I never really chose 53. Chose me. But it’s a new beginning.”
Burns pieced together a rather impressive four-year start to his career in that 53. The 2019 first-round has totaled 38.0 sacks, 77 quarterback hits, 206 pressures and a pair of starting Pro Bowl nods.
But, as he said, it’s a new beginning—one that’ll likely produce even more of those numbers in a new number.
