The Philadelphia 76ers, just like the rest of the NBA world, were watching the NBA Finals on Monday night in the Mile High City. The Denver Nuggets and the Miami Heat continued their battle for the right to be named NBA champions.
The Nuggets, looking to cap an impressive run, went back and forth all night long as the resilient, scrappy Heat wouldn’t quit. However, the Nuggets proved to be too much in the end.
Nikola Jokic had 28 points and 16 rebounds while Michael Porter Jr. added 16 points and 13 rebounds and Jamal Murray had 14, eight rebound and eight assists. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Bruce Brown made huge plays down the stretch as well in a 94-89 win.
This is the first championship in Nuggets history. Former Sixers Ish Smith and DeAndre Jordan earned championship rings.

The Heat, an 8 seed, battled and showed their toughness this entire playoff run. They deserve a ton of credit, but in the end, their luck ran out and they weren’t able to keep up with a deeper and more talented Nuggets team.
The Sixers look to regroup and prepare for their own title run to unseat the Nuggets in the 2023-24 season.
