The basketball rivalry between Arkansas and Alabama hit another level on Monday.
Per multiple reports, former North Dakota State forward Grant Nelson chose the Crimson Tide over the Razorbacks after announcing the two teams as his finalists out of the transfer portal last week.
The 6-foot-11, 235-pounder averaged 17.9 points and 9.3 rebounds last year for the Bison, earning All-Summit League honors alongside the conference’s All-Defense team.
Alabama lost its three best frontcourt players – Brandon Miller, Noah Clowney and Charles Bediako – to the NBA Draft, whereas Arkansas will return starting center Makhi Mitchell, starting forward Trevon Brazile and will be bringing in McDonald’s All-American center Baye Fall.
Arkansas lost both games to Alabama in the regular season last year as the Crimson Tide were a top-five team nearly the slate. The Razorbacks are likely to start the 2023-24 season inside the Top 15.
