The day Aaron Rodgers officially became the Jets’ new quarterback brought smiles to many faces among the Jets faithful. It gave them reason for hope for the upcoming season after over a decade of making early plans after the regular season ended. The organization firmly believes what is now tied for the longest postseason drought in major sports will come to an end this season.
Aaron Rodgers gives the Jets optimism for the season. That goes without reason. Seems pretty obvious. In any event, Pro Football Focus recently shared a reason for optimism for every NFL team this coming season. Shocker of shockers, the reason for the Jets is one Aaron Rodgers.
With competent quarterback play last season, the Jets would’ve been a playoff team. They finished with a 48.9 team passing grade and -0.135 expected points added per pass play, one of the worst passing offenses in the league. Adding Rodgers, who is just one year removed from back-to-back MVPs, is a major reason to be optimistic.
It’s easy to forget the Jets started 5-2 despite Joe Flacco and Zach Wilson doing their best to drag the offense down. Injuries led to a 2-8 finish. Now, anything short of the playoffs will be a major disappointment. That starts with No. 8. Positive thinking here.
