The Brooklyn Nets have some important choices to make between now and the start of the 2023-24 season. With the 2023 NBA Draft coming up in less than two weeks, Cody Taylor of Rookie Wire said in a recent mock draft article that the Nets are projected to take forward Azuolas Tubelis with the 51st overall pick.
Tubelis, 21, averaged 19.8 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 57% from the field and 31.3% from three-point land. The 6’11” 245-pound junior from Lithuania has plenty of accolades to his name due to his stellar play for the Wildcats such as being named to the Consensus All-American second-team as well as being named MVP of the Pac-12 tournament.
What Tubelis would bring to a team like the Nets is his ability to score inside the paint thanks to his strong build. While his shooting at Arizona was not elite, it looks like he has enough touch on his shot to be a threat from deep. Where Tubelis lacks upside is that he’s not particularly athletic and seems to be a bit of a tweener between a center and a power forward which could make his fit in the NBA unknown at this juncture.
