Nuggets superstar big man Nikola Jokic is in the midst of an absolutely dominant performance in the NBA postseason.
But long before the two-time NBA MVP was playing against the Heat for a chance to win the NBA Finals, the big man was far from the United States. Jokic was born and raised in Sombor, Serbia, and he learned about the game of basketball from his older brothers.
As a child in Serbia, he also loved horse racing — which is an interest he still has today. During ESPN’s pregame broadcast of the championship series, we saw a glimpse of an image from Jokic’s childhood.

Look at that incredibly handsome young man!
Who would have thought that this kid would grow up to become one of the most dominant, versatile basketball players on the planet?
