Report: Jets considered dark horse, ‘definitely interested’ in Dalvin Cook

Could the Jets land Dalvin Cook?

Could the Jets be in the mix for likely soon-to-be-released running back Dalvin Cook? A recent report from the Minnesota area seems to think so.

According to Darren Wolfson of KSTP in Minneapolis, the Jets are “definitely interested” in Cook, who is set to be released Friday if the Vikings are unable to find a trade partner.

Breece Hall is hopeful for Week 1 and the Jets have Michael Carter, Zonovan Knight and rookie Israel Abanikanda behind Carter. Wolfson believes the Jets can use an upgrade at the position, citing the “enormous expectations” the Jets have this season with Aaron Rodgers.

At the very least, the Jets will have competition within their division for Cooks’ services in the form of the Miami Dolphins. They and the Denver Broncos, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, are expected to be in the mix for Cook when he is released. We’ll see if the Jets really do have interest in Cook, who has posted four straight seasons with at least 1,100 yards, including 1,557 yards in 2020.
