WATCH: Commanders RB Brian Robinson Jr. with one-handed catch at minicamp

Robinson showing off his receiving skills for the Commanders.

Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr. isn’t known for his receiving skills. Robinson caught just 17 passes in the first four seasons of his college career at Alabama before catching 35 in his final season.

As a rookie last season, Robinson caught nine passes for 60 yards and a touchdown. It’s not that Robinson can’t make plays in the passing game, but that the Commanders also have Antonio Gibson, a former college wide receiver.

With new offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, the Commanders will be more of a screen team than under Scott Turner. That means Robinson will receive more opportunities to impact the passing game.

During Wednesday’s practice at minicamp, Robinson showed everyone his receiving skills by making a one-handed catch on a throw from quarterback Sam Howell.

Don’t be surprised if Robinson is more involved in Washington’s passing game under Bieniemy in 2023. Robinson and Gibson should be a fun duo this fall.
