Iowa Hawkeyes offer sets off flurry from Big Ten West rivals for 2024 TE Michael Burt

The Iowa Hawkeyes’ offer to three-star, class of 2024 tight end Michael Burt set off a surge in his recruitment among Big Ten West schools.

Tight End U identified another prospect it likes. The Iowa Hawkeyes sent out an offer to class of 2024 tight end Michael Burt of Creighton Preparatory School in Omaha, Neb.

The 6-foot-5, 225 pound tight end quickly saw an uptick in his recruitment. Following the Hawkeye offer, fellow Big Ten West foes Minnesota, Nebraska, and Illinois each offered in succession.

In addition to those schools, Burt also holds offers from Eastern Michigan, Miami (Ohio), Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa, South Dakota, South Dakota State and Southeast Missouri State.

Per MaxPreps, Burt caught 11 passes for 187 yards with one score last season with Creighton Prep.

Burt caught up with Hawkeye Nation’s Rob Howe to detail his Iowa offer. He’s taken note of Iowa’s history with tight ends and really just the Hawkeyes’ ability to help players grow during their time in Iowa City.

“The thing I like the most about them is the developmental aspect of their program,” Burt said of Iowa.

Iowa’s 2024 recruiting class currently houses 11 commits and is ranked 18th nationally by 247Sports. While Iowa is looking for its first tight end commit, the Hawkeyes are also considered “warm” by 247Sports in the recruitments of Eric Karner of Immaculate Conception in Illinois and Gavin Hoffman of Blue Valley Northwest.
