No specifics yet for return of Cardinals TE Zach Ertz from ACL injury

Ertz had surgery to repair his ACL and MCL in November. HC Jonathan Gannon says Ertz will return when he is “physically and mentally ready.”

Quarterback Kyler Murray is not the only Arizona Cardinals player coming back from a torn ACL. Tight end Zach Ertz is also working his way back, although he suffered his knee injury earlier in the season in Week 10.

Head coach Jonathan Gannon said Ertz is eager to return but would not give any specifics as to what might be his timetable for getting on the field.

“I think he’s chomping at the bit a little bit, raring to go,” Gannon told reporters on Thursday. “He looks good. He’s excited about this year, getting into this offense and how we are going to deploy him.”

That, of course, doesn’t answer anything.

But when it came to Ertz’ possible return, Gannon used the same description he used for any return from Kyler Murray.

“When he is physically and mentally ready to play, he’ll play,” Gannon said.
