DeAndre Hopkins hires agent for free agency

He negotiated his last contract on his own with the Cardinals but will use an agent as he hits free agency for the first time.

Former Arizona Cardinals receiver DeAndre Hopkins is officially a free agent. The team announced his release on Friday, meaning he could be in contact with other teams, but his release became official on Tuesday afternoon. Only then he could agree to terms.

Hopkins, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, has hired new representation, joining Klutch Sports and making Kelton Crenshaw his agent.

Hopkins negotiated his own contract with the Cardinals in 2020.

We will find out soon what Hopkins’ main priorities are in free agency. Will he take less money to play for a contending team? Will he still expect a big contract like Odell Beckham did in his deal with the Baltimore Ravens?

Either way, he will have someone doing the negotiating for him, which makes sense.

Doing your own deal with the team you are already committed to is much easier than handling all the ins and outs of managing phone calls, offers and more.
