PFF puts Tua Tagovailoa near the top 10 in quarterback rankings

He could easily pass a few ahead of him in 2023.

While the Miami Dolphins have finished three organized team activity sessions, they still have three more to go. Following those practices comes mandatory minicamp and training camp.

During this time, there are a lot of evaluations going on around the league, both from within the teams and the media. Players are trying to earn roster spots and snaps during the season, and outlets are trying to declare where these players rank among their peers.

Pro Football Focus’ Sam Monson recently ranked all 32 projected starters for the 2023 season, and Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was ranked at No. 11.

Here’s what Monson wrote about Tagovailoa:

“Can Tua back up what we saw in 2022, or was his play beginning to be found out anyway when concussions became the overriding factor in his season? That’s the big question for him and Miami heading into 2023. Tua led the league with a massive 8.9 yards per attempt last season and also had one of the highest average depths of target, having been in the middle of the pack before that. He has elite potential within Mike McDaniel’s offense but now needs to repeat it.”

Ahead of Tagovailoa are Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Aaron Rodgers, Lamar Jackson, Jalen Hurts, Trevor Lawrence, Kirk Cousins and Dak Prescott.

If the former Crimson Tide signal-caller continues to grow and show that he can keep improving, he absolutely has the potential to move into the top 10 and pass a few above him on the list.
