It’s no secret that one of the more important matters that the Brooklyn Nets have to address how much would the team pay to keep talented restricted free-agent wing Cam Johnson from leaving. Regardless of the price, Mikal Bridges wants the Nets to pay Johnson to keep him in Brooklyn.
Johnson is expected to command a contract in the neighborhood of four years and $90 million, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. Per Bleacher Report, Brooklyn’s worst-case scenario would be if a team, such as the Houston Rockets, offered Johnson a deal that far exceeded the aforementioned figure.
Johnson, 27, has been great for Brooklyn ever since the came to the Nets via the Kevin Durant trade. In 25 regular-season games for Brooklyn, Johnson averaged 16.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.4 steals while shooting 46.8% from the field and 37.2% from three-point land. He dazzled in the playoffs as well as he averaged 18.5 points per game, including dropping 28 points in Game 2 of Brooklyn’s first-round series against the Philadelphia 76ers.
