Five-time Pro Bowl receiver DeAndre Hopkins recently admitted the New England Patriots were one of two teams he was paying attention to as a potential trade suitor for his services during the offseason.
Patriots fans fell in one of two camps after hearing Hopkins’ comments: The camp that’s still buying the dream trade as a realistic possibility, or the camp that has cut ties with that dream world entirely and moved on to the reality that is.
That current reality is the Patriots still having three reliable veterans in JuJu Smith-Schuster, DeVante Parker and Kendrick Bourne. They also have 2022 second-round draft pick Tyquan Thornton, who could potentially emerge as a major contributor. There are also the two rookie sixth-round picks, Kayshon Boutte and Demario Douglas, to look forward to seeing develop.
With that said, Hopkins is an elite talent who is still one of the best receivers in the league. He would instantly make New England’s struggling offense look drastically improved.
