Player Profile: USC target and 2025 running back James Simon

USC is going into Louisiana to develop future depth in its running back room.

James Simon is ranked the No. 140 overall prospect by the 247Sports.com composite recruiting rankings. He is the No. 12 running back in the 2025 class.

Last year in his sophomore season at Calvary Baptist Academy, Simon ran for 1,005 yards and 22 touchdowns, and he also caught 9 passes for 122 yards and 3 touchdowns. Those are very impressive numbers for the 2025 athlete who also started at cornerback for Calvary Baptist.

The USC Trojans join an offer list that includes more than a dozen schools. Some of his other offers include Arizona, Georgia, Houston, LSU, Notre Dame, Oregon, TCU, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, and many more.

There are currently no crystal ball projections for Simon, but LSU is a 42% favorite to land him per On3 Sports.

Simon is listed as an athlete because he starts at running back and at cornerback for Calvary Baptist in Shreveport (Louisiana).
