Florida football extended a scholarship to three-star cornerback [autotag]Amare Sanders[/autotag] out of Miami (Florida) Gulliver Prep this week as Billy Napier and Co. continue their efforts to bolster the secondary in the 2024 cycle.
Secondaries coach Corey Raymond has been hot on his trail recently, and despite the fact they were not able to communicate directly during the Gators coach’s last stop, Raymond has managed to earn the respect of the rising high school senior.
“Coach Raymond’s track record is incredible,” Sanders told Swamp247. “That was something we talked about on the phone too how his development with players speaks for itself. Just hearing that from him, and being how well known he is. He knows what he’s doing and he wants to make everyone better and keep them on task. That’s huge.”
It also helps that the 6-foot-2-inch, 167-pound defensive back has family connections with the school.
“I have some family members that went to Florida. My cousin is Ben Hanks Jr., and his dad played at Florida too, so I have some background on Florida. I wouldn’t say I know too much, but I know the history they have and how they have a really electric atmosphere on game day with sports. I am aware of some things about Florida with that.”
When you add up the sum of all the parts, the Orange and Blue has a lot to offer the coveted cornerback.
“Florida will definitely be a top school for me. When I was a kid, I always dreamed of being in this position. Picking up an offer from Florida is huge.”
The Miami Hurricanes, Auburn Tigers, Florida State Seminoles, Duke Blue Devils and Louisville Cardinals are the other schools at the top of his tentative list currently.
Sanders is ranked No. 663 overall and No. 59 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 648 and 64, respectively. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has the Lousiville Cardinals with a 47.3% chance of landing him, followed by the Florida International Panthers (3.8%), Miami Hurricanes (3.2%) and Florida Atlantic Owls (2.7%).
