Penn State basketball goes international with newest roster addition

Penn State basketball nearing full roster for 2023 after commitment from international recruit.

Penn State men’s basketball coach Mike Rhoades continues to be hard at work establishing a roster for his first season in Happy Valley. On Wednesday, Rhoades and the Nittany Lions picked up a new commitment to the program from outside of the United States.

Penn State received a commitment from Bragi Gudmundsson, who announced his commitment to the program with a post on his Instagram account. The point guard is from Iceland and will be a 20-year-old freshman when he joins the program as a member of the Class of 2023. His arrival in State College will be delayed as he is playing for Iceland’s national team this summer. Gudmundsson, who measures 6′-5″, is coming off a season averaging 10.0 points per game in the Iceland-Subway League.

Gudmundsson is the first addition for Penn State’s Class of 2023 on the basketball court since the hiring of Rhoades. Penn State is now up to 11 scholarship players for the upcoming college basketball season, leaving two scholarship spots still vacant.
