On Wednesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers announced they had signed three free agents to one-year contracts. The most interesting name on the list is quarterback Mason Rudolph.

Rudolph didn’t see any interest in free agency and has found his way back to his old team. With Rudolph back in the mix, there should be a solid competition to be the team’s No. 2 quarterback behind Kenny Pickett.

The addition of Rudolph could mark the end for Mitch Trubisky if the team chooses to release him before June 1 to save $8 million in salary cap space. Rudolph was the Steelers third-round pick in 2018. He has 10 career starts and is 5-4-1 as a starter.
