The 2023 NBA draft lottery is in the books and — unsurprisingly — the Oklahoma City Thunder will pick No. 12.
The Thunder entered Tuesday with an 85.2% chance of landing the No. 12 pick. That turned out to be the case; the Thunder will pick 12th for a second consecutive draft.
The Thunder used last year’s 12th pick on Jalen Williams, who finished second in Rookie of the Year voting this past season.
Meanwhile, French phenom Victor Wembanyama will likely spend the beginning of his NBA career with the San Antonio Spurs, who gained the No. 1 pick.
The first top 14 draft picks of the 2023 NBA draft will go as follow:
The final results from the 2023 #NBADraftLottery presented by State Farm:
1. Spurs
2. Hornets
3. Trail Blazers
4. Rockets
5. Pistons
6. Magic
7. Pacers
8. Wizards
9. Jazz
10. Mavericks
11. Magic
12. Thunder
13. Raptors
14. Pelicans— NBA (@NBA) May 17, 2023
The Thunder also own the No. 37 and No. 50 overall picks in the second round. Obviously, their three picks can change with trades, but that’s the case for right now:
Biggest loser of the night was obviously the Detroit Pistons, falling from #1 to #5.
Biggest loser in the second round? The Oklahoma City Thunder. Their pick fell from #35 to #50 by virtue of the Spurs moving ahead of the Rockets in the lottery.
