The Colorado Buffaloes’ unbelievable transfer portal run just isn’t stopping. Now, they are tied to another talented player in UTSA wide receiver Zakhari Franklin.
Per Chris Hummer of 247Sports, Colorado has “popped up” as a possibility for Franklin, along with LSU and Florida State.
Robbie Weinstein of 247Sports also examined why Franklin coming to Boulder makes sense, and adding another talented WR for Shedeur Sanders would be a massive get:
This is an easy one, as coach Deion Sanders needs impact players — and needs them for the 2023 season. Franklin has just one season of eligibility left but is coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons for the Roadrunners. Although much of the Buffs’ attrition to the transfer portal this offseason might be classified as “good” turnover, they lost some talented play-makers on offense in wide receivers Jordyn Tyson and Montana Lemonious-Craig as well as tight end Seydou Traore. Sanders could use more ready-to-play talent alongside Travis Hunter at receiver, and Franklin certainly would qualify.
The Buffs lost quite a few impact weapons in the portal, including Montana Lemonious-Craig and tight end Seydou Traore made a surprising decision to leave as well.
The Buffs did add a ton of options on offense and brought in Houston transfer RB Alton McCaskill for a visit. But, landing Franklin would give them another quality weapon.
In 2022, he had 94 catches with 1,136 yards and 15 touchdowns, so it’s no secret he can play at a high level. Oh, and just imagine him in a Seal Lewis offense.
