With Suns’ playoff loss, Is the Kevin Durant trade good for the Brooklyn Nets?

With Phoenix losing in the second round to the Denver Nuggets, is the Kevin Durant trade good for the Brooklyn Nets?

The Brooklyn Nets made two trades during the 2022-23 season that will alter the trajectory of the franchise for years to come because of the players involved. One of the players, superstar and future hall-of-famer Kevin Durant, was traded from the Nets to the Phoenix Suns in the early morning hours on February 10.

Durant was traded along with TJ Warren to Phoenix in exchange for Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, first-round picks in 2023, 2025, 2027, and 2029 and a first-round pick swap in 2028. Both teams went on to make the playoffs in their respective conferences, but Brooklyn was swept in their first-round series against the Philadelphia 76ers while Phoenix lost to the Denver Nuggets in six games in the second round.

The Suns still have Durant under contract for three more season, but after Phoenix was ousted from the playoffs with an embarrassing loss for the second straight season, there are reports that the team is looking to trade veteran Chris Paul and center Deandre Ayton. It will be a few years before the NBA world will know for sure who won the Durant, but it is looking good for Brooklyn so far.
