On Friday, the Pittsburgh Steelers announced they has signed multiple players to their rookie contracts. One of those rookie deals was for Pittsburgh’s third-round pick, tight end Darnell Washington.
The Steelers drafted Washington with the No. 93 overall pick and it was one of the biggest bargains of the entire draft. Washington’s stock fell due to a silly rumor about a knee surgery that Washington assured was a non-issue and his lack of use as a receiver in the Georgia offense.
With Pittsburgh, Washington is going to serve not only as the team’s sixth offensive lineman to help power a flourishing run game but his freakish athleticism will make him an unstoppable weapon in the passing game.
Washington should pair up nicely with Pat Freiermuth and allow Pittsburgh to run more 12 personnel.
