Even though he hasn’t coached a single down in Tuscaloosa yet, the expectations for Tommy Rees are sky-high entering his first season under Nick Saban. Part of that just naturally comes with joining the Alabama staff, but also the success he was able to achieve with Notre Dame.
We won’t get to see the fruits of his labor on the field until September, but he has already been a difference-maker on campus as he was the main reason Alabama was able to add former Fighting Irish quarterback, Tyler Buchner.
The Irish offense was a little slow getting out of the gate in September and early October, but after the first three weeks of the season, they averaged 35.8 PPG with some really nice wins such as Clemson and South Carolina.
Rees was on the Irish staff that got defeated 31-14 by Alabama in the College Football Playoffs Rose Bowl semi-final, so if you can’t beat them, join them.
