5 major takeaways following Florida’s series loss to Texas A&M

It was a rough weekend in College Station for the boys in Orange and Blue, and Florida needs to regroup fast before facing Vanderbilt.

It’s been a few weeks since Gators Wire has looked at the bigger picture regarding Florida’s baseball program, and what better time to revisit things than with two weeks left until the end of the regular season?

The Gators are 37-12 overall and 15-9 against the SEC following a series loss to Texas A&M that ended on a walk-off balk. South Carolina swept Florida two weeks ago, and a sweep against Missouri doesn’t save the Gators.

The best pieces of the pitching staff have looked overwhelmed lately, and the bats are quieting down as every conference foe has their best weekend on the mound against Florida. It’s a frustrating time to be a Gators fan in a vacuum, but things are okay overall.

Florida will still push to host a Super Regional and is widely accepted to be one of the top 10 teams in the country. The question is whether UF is in that top-5 conversation. That will be answered in a week after a series against Vanderbilt.
