Notre Dame baseball drops rubber match vs. NC State

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Notre Dame Fighting Irish (29-19, 14-13 ACC) fell in the final game of the series against NC State (31-15, 10-13 ACC) with a score of 6-1 on Saturday, May 6 at Frank Eck Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Irish offense struck first as Zack Prajzner put the Irish on the board with his sixth home run of the season, launching it to deep left field for the 1-0 advantage heading into the second.

The Wolfpack responded with a three-run frame in the top of the second, scoring on a double to right center and a two-run home run to take the lead 3-1. NC State would tack on runs in the fifth, sixth, and ninth inning to take the ballgame 6-1.

Zack Prajzner, TJ Williams, Vinny Martinez, Brady Gumpf, and Danny Neri each recorded one hit on the day. Jackson Dennies started on the mound for the Irish before being relieved by Caden Spivey, who pitched a team high 3.1 innings. Will Mercer, Carter Bosch, and Ricky Reeth also saw action on the mound today for the Irish.

The Irish are back at Frank Eck for a three-game series against Akron in their final home series of the year, starting on Friday, May 12.
