We’re not going to pretend that USC basketball isn’t trying to become a Final Four program. It certainly is. Though the school hasn’t made the Final Four since 1954 and has not had a reasonable chance of making college basketball’s ultimate showcase in decades, the 2023-2024 roster gives the Trojans a shot.
They aren’t a favorite, but they’re in the mix. They are legitimately a top-15 team based on the talent they have assembled. Bronny James is part of this picture, though Isaiah Collier (the nation’s No. 1 recruit) and Boogie Ellis (an elite scorer returning for one more year) are even bigger reasons why USC can dare to dream big. The Trojans certainly do want to make the Final Four. If Bronny James helps USC pull it off, he and Collier would become the most important recruits in USC men’s basketball history.
USC wants the Final Four and wants it badly. We can acknowledge that. Yet, we can also point out that if the Trojans don’t crack the Final Four in Glendale, Arizona, Bronny can still become a transformative figure in USC hoops history.
