Florida basketball’s 2022-23 campaign left a lot to be desired in Todd Golden’s first season as head coach, finishing with a losing record after getting bumped by the Central Florida Knights in the National Invitation Tournament back in March.
However, things look a bit rosier when looking toward the future as the program works on moving forward, with the Gators making the NCAA Tournament in ESPN writer Joe Lunardi’s bracketologist so far. In his first “way-too-early” projections, the Orange and Blue earned a No. 8 seed in the Midwest bracket based in Detroit, Michigan, facing the ninth-seeded Rutgers Scarlet Knights in the opening round.
Lunardi’s latest bracket predictions have Florida one spot lower this time around, landing at No. 9 in the Midwest bracket and facing the eighth-seeded USC Trojans to kick things off.
The Southeastern Conference is represented by seven schools in the bracketology, tied for second with the Big 12 after the Big Ten’s nine schools in the tournament. The Big East has six entries among the field of 68, both the ACC and Pac-12 have five teams, and the American, Southwest and WCC all have two.
