Kayshon Boutte isn’t a first-round pick, but he might end up being a first-round talent at wide receiver for the New England Patriots.
Look no further than his run-in with Washington Commanders No. 16 overall pick of the 2023 NFL draft, former Mississippi State cornerback Emmanuel Forbes.
It was the fourth game of the season back in 2021, and Boutte already had 224 receiving yards and six touchdowns heading into the matchup.
On one particular play, he could be seen lining up outside with Forbes covering him. Boutte takes off and sells the vertical route just enough to get Forbes to bite before driving hard inside, hauling in the pass and taking it to the house for one of two touchdowns in the game.

Once Boutte hit the acceleration in the open, there was nothing but green grass and a lay-up six points for the LSU Tigers.
The Patriots offense could use this playmaking ability as they try to put the pieces together after a disappointing 2022 season. Plays like this one are the reason why so many people are intrigued by Boutte being selected in the sixth round.
New England could be the place where he finally proves all of the naysayers wrong.
