The Cleveland Browns had a gem fall to them as they came on the clock with pick no. 190 in the 2023 NFL draft. For some odd reason, Ohio State center Luke Wypler still found himself on the board, and the Browns capitalized on that value. Just what kind of player are they getting in Wypler? Just ask the second overall pick and now the quarterback of the Houston Texans C.J. Stroud.
Stroud, who took snaps from Wypler over the past two seasons, has nothing but high praise to speak of the new Cleveland center, calling him “one of the smartest guys I’ve ever been around. Sometimes a little too smart for his own good.”
With two reserve centers suffering season-ending injuries a year ago, Wypler could come in and find himself as the backup center from day-one. And it sure sounds like he is prepared for that.
C.J. Stroud on Luke Wypler: “Luke is one of the smartest guys I’ve ever been around. Sometimes a little too smart for his own good.”
