The Washington Commanders finally selected an offensive lineman Friday night, drafting Arkansas center Ricky Stromberg at No. 97 overall.
One of the better centers in the draft, Stromberg was a four-year starter in the SEC and won the Jacobs Trophy as the league’s top blocker in 2022. He will likely compete for a starting role as a rookie, either at center or guard.
After Washington selected Stromberg, he met with the local Washington media via Zoom. To say Stromberg was excited would be an understatement.
Courtesy of Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post, here is Stromberg talking about how “fired up” he was to be heading to Washington.
According to a person with knowledge of the situation … Ricky Stromberg is so hyped right now. pic.twitter.com/oMBkWtGDPb

It won’t take long for Stromberg to be a fan favorite.
