WATCH: Highlights of new Bears OT Darnell Wright

The Bears drafted Tennessee OT Darnell Wright with the 10th pick, and these highlights show exactly why.

The Chicago Bears continued to rebuild their offensive line by drafting Tennessee tackle Darnell Wright with the 10th overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft.

Wright started 42 games in his college career, playing left tackle, right tackle, and right guard, and he was brought in to protect quarterback Justin Fields.

Wright expressed his excitement about being a Bear. He called Fields an “amazing quarterback” and said his job is to “keep him clean.” Keeping Fields upright is something the Bears failed to do over the last two seasons. He was sacked 55 times in 15 games last season.

This was a necessary move to help build a championship roster. In order to win games, the Bears have to keep Fields healthy. The only way to do that is to protect him.

Wright brings a lot of excitement to Chicago. He is a versatile offensive lineman who will be an immediate plug-and-play player. He was great as a pass blocker but has work to do as a run blocker.

Take a look at what Chicago is getting in Wright:
