The Chicago Bears addressed the offensive line with the selection of Tennessee tackle Darnell Wright with the 10th overall pick.
General manager Ryan Poles has made it a priority to build around quarterback Justin Fields this offseason, which started with acquiring wide receiver DJ Moore in the trade of the No. 1 pick. Now, Poles has addressed the biggest need on offense at tackle.
Wright is expected to start at right tackle opposite Braxton Jones, who will likely continue to develop at left tackle. Chicago’s offensive line gave up 55 sacks on Fields in 15 games last season, so shoring up pass protection has been a focal point this offseason.
“That’s my only plan,” Wright said of keeping Fields upright. “That’s what I’m here for.”
