Eagles and Cardinals make a draft trade to resolve a tampering investigation

The teams made a pick swap in the third round this year and the Eagles also included a 2024 5th-rounder

Ladies and gentlemen, we have our first draft night trade for 2023. And it comes before any team is even officially on the clock.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Philadelphia Eagles and Arizona Cardinals agreed to a trade before the draft to resolve a tampering dispute involving the Cardinals hiring of new head coach Jonathan Gannon. Arizona hired Gannon from the Eagles, where he was Philadelphia’s defensive coordinator.

Per Schefter, the Eagles traded a third-round pick (No. 94 overall) to the Cardinals in exchange for a third-round pick (No. 66 overall) and also a fifth-round pick in the 2024 NFL draft. The trade ends any further investigation into potential tampering.
