Cincinnati third baseman Nick Senzel hit a walk-off home run in the Reds’ 5-3, victory over Texas Wednesday at Great American Park.
Senzel, a former Vol, went 2-for-4 and clinched the win for the Reds with a two-run home run in the ninth inning off Jonathan Hernandez.
It was Senzel’s first home run of the 2023 season and the first walk-off home run of his MLB career.
This season, Senzel has posted a .227 batting average. He has appeared in 13 games and totaled 10 hits, eight runs, one double and seven RBIs.
He played for the Vols from 2014-16. Senzel was an All-America performer and nominated for the Golden Spikes Award.
He was the No. 2 overall pick by the Reds in the 2016 MLB draft. Senzel made his MLB debut May 3, 2019.
