After Lafayette Christian Academy cornerback [autotag]Ju’Juan Johnson[/autotag] backed off his pledge to Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes earlier this week, it seems LSU is in the driver’s seat for his recruitment.
Johnson — a 5-foot-11, 178-pound prospect who ranks as the No. 219 player in the country and No. 7 Louisiana recruit, per On3 — received a Crystal Ball from 247Sports national recruiting director Steve Wiltfong shortly after his decommitment.
LSU is also a 74% favorite to land him, per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
Johnson committed to the Buffs back in February, but his time pledged to the program would ultimately be brief. Sanders has seen quite a bit of program attrition since his hiring, as 18 players have entered the transfer portal since the spring game and 41 total since he took the job in Boulder.
Now, he’s also lost one of his top commitments in the 2024 class, and LSU will look to close things out with Johnson, though he likely isn’t committing any time soon as he’s set a June official visit with Florida.
