Hubert Davis and his staff at North Carolina landed a big fish out of the transfer portal on Saturday afternoon. Former five-star forward Harrison Ingram picked the Tar Heels over Kansas.
Ingram ended his recruitment in the portal after a few weeks, drawing interest from several teams. But it was always thought of as a two-team race between the Tar Heels and Jayhawks.
The process turned in North Carolina’s favor a few days after Ingram completed a visit to campus. He also had an in-home with the North Carolina staff prior to that.
The commitment comes right before he was scheduled to visit Kansas, postponing his visit from last week. The visit to UNC was enough to land Ingram and make Tar Heels’ fans feel good about their Saturday.
The addition of Ingram fills a big void on the wing for UNC. He will come in as a starter from Day 1, joining Armando Bacot and RJ Davis, who decided to return another year.
The wing played two seasons at Stanford averaging 10.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game. He was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year for his play.
Let’s take a look at some of the best Twitter reactions to UNC landing Ingram.
